Poppypride is licensed by the Gangmasters & Labour Abuse Authority, a Non Departmental Public Body of the UK Government. GLAA regulates businesses that provide workers to the fresh produce supply chain and horticulture industry, to make sure they meet the employment standards required by law.


Employers and labour suppliers, such as recruitment agencies, must be licensed to employ workers for the horticultural, processing & packaging industries.

There are 4 penalties associated with the Gangmasters Licensing Authority:

  • Working as an unlicensed Gangmaster (up to 10 years)

  • Using an unlicensed Gangmaster (up to 6 months)

  • Showing false documentation / possessing a false license

  • Obstructing compliance enforcement
